Genie Backup Manager Requires a Username for Scheduling an Unattended Backup Though it’s a Standalone

SYMPTOMS

Genie Backup Manger (GBM) requests a username and password for scheduling an unattended backup task even though mine is a standalone computer and no user name or password are required to log in.

 

CAUSE

This behavior occurs due to the fact that the user has a null password, and on Windows XP and above operating systems you must provide a username and password for the task.

 

RESOLUTION

  • Select the Run only when user is logged on under Security options in the Backup Schedule step.
  • Make sure to create a login password for your Windows user account so you can provide the user login credentials upon scheduling the backup job.
