In order to backup specific settings, preferences and files of an installed application on your system, you can backup the Plugin designed to do such for the corresponding application you wish to backup.

Plugins are specific scripts used to backup specific files, settings and the like of applications installed on the user system. From the Plugins page on our website, you can read the note next to each Plugin to understand what it backs up for that specific application. For example, the Microsoft Money Plugin backs up your personal settings you enabled for the application as well as the money files you created. The advantage of using such Plugins for applications rather than simply selecting your files from ‘My Folders’ is that no matter the location of the files for the application, the script backs them up and restores them to any machine in the location found. Also, you are able to backup your settings and preferences. This way you can simply restore the Plugin after having installed the application (unless the plugin backs up the whole application), and you would not have to reconfigure or recreate your personal data.

In order for the Plugin to be activated, the Plugin must support the version of the application on your system and the application must be installed on your system.

You can create your own Plugins using our Simple Genie Plugin Creator.

After creating your own personal plugin, send it to us and we will upload it to the Plugins database where it can be shared by other users.
