Genie Backup Manager 9.0 (GBM 9.0) can automatically import scheduled tasks created by GBM 6.0, GBM 7.0 and GBM 8.0; however, the imported tasks will have limitations:

– Will not run while user is logged off: Due to security reasons, GBM will not be able to import your windows login username and password that are necessary to run backups when logged off.

– You cannot edit it directly from GBM: Since GBM has changed the whole infrastructure of the scheduled tasks component, old scheduled will not appear in the GBM scheduler; however, you may view and edit them from Windows Task Scheduler.

Recommendations

It is recommended that you delete these scheduled tasks and schedule them again as follows:

  1. Open your Windows Task Scheduler. (Control PanelAdministrative ToolsTask Scheduler)
  2. From the left panel of the Windows Task Scheduler, click on Task Scheduler Library. A list of all your scheduled tasks will appear in the middle of the screen.
  3. Right-click the GBM related tasks → Delete.
  4. Now open the GBM software → Edit Previous Jobs → Select the backup job which you are interested in scheduling it → Refer to the Schedule page and schedule this job to run the way you need.

What’s New in GBM Scheduler?

  1. The ability to backup while user is logged in or not: This option eliminates the need to always ask for Windows login username or password if the user wishes to run tasks when logged on.
  2. Fully integrated in the backup procedure: Now it is more clear to view the schedule of the backup job, instead of going to the schedule wizard.
  3. Schedule every few hours.
  4. Advanced scheduled mode: This allows you to schedule with rotating backup types.*
  5. Limit number of backup sets**: You can limit backup sets if supported by media.
  6. Added option to remove backup countdown.

*Not Supported in GBM Home 8.0 and 9.0

**Available in the Advanced Schedule mode only.
