Error Message: “Failed to load Microsoft SQL Backup Engine”

SYMPTOMS

When installing the Microsoft plugin in Genie Backup Manager Server 8.0 (GBM Server 8.0).

 

CAUSE

This could occur because GBM Server is not installed on the same machine as MS SQL is installed on.

 

RESOLUTION

  1. Install GBM Server 8.0 software on the same machine MS SQL is on. GBM Server 8.0 is a desktop application, this means that it is unable to manage SQL Server remotely.
  2. When installing on Windows Server 64-bit, make sure you are using the x64 version of GBM Server 8.0. You can download it from here.
  3. If the problem persists, contact support, specifying the MS SQL Server and Windows Server versions used including Service Packs installed.
