SYMPTOMS

When installing the Microsoft Exchange plugin in Genie Backup Manager (Server edition), you receive the following error:

“Failed to load Microsoft Exchange Backup Engine”

 

CAUSE

This could occur for the following reasons:

  1. Genie Backup Manager is not installed on the same machine where the MS Exchange is installed.
  2. Failure to copy esebcli2.dll to the C:\Windows\System32 folder

 

RESOLUTION

  1. Install Genie Backup Manager (GBM) on the same machine where the MS Exchange is installed, as GBM is unable to manage Exchange Server remotely.
  2.  Manual copy the esebcli2.dll file from the program folder Microsoft Exchange is currently installed in to the C:\Windows\System32 folder this is done from the following steps:
