SYMPTOMS
When backing up to DVD media and your data exceeds 2 GB, you receive a message:
“Your Data exceeded 2GB and GBM is unable to backup to your DVD media using FAT32 File System as a temporary folder, due to file size limitation.”
RESOLUTIONS
If your temporary folder is on a drive that has FAT32 file system, Genie Backup Manager (GBM) will not be able to backup the temporary files to the temporary location before burning to DVD, as FAT32 has a file size limitation that will prevent loading files to the drive that exceed 2 GB.
To overcome this limitation you have the following options:
– Change the temporary folder location to an NTFS drive
To change the temporary location please refer to the following steps:
- Open your GBM software → Click Tools on the Menu bar → Global Preferences….
- From Category, select General.
- Under Temporary files folder, select the Use the following Temporary location option → Browse for a folder that is located on NTFS drive → OK.
- Click OK.
– Split your data at 2 GB
To split your data, please:
- Open your GBM software → Edit Previous Jobs → Select the backup job which you are having the issue with.
- In Where to backup window, select the Use fixed split size option → Set the Size per disk to 2 GB.
- Save your backup job.
– Convert your FAT32 drive to NTFS (Learn more)
