Error Message: “The application failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem”

SYMPTOMS

This error message appears when attempting to open the application after install, reinstalling or updating.

 

CAUSE

This error occurs because the latest Microsoft redistribution package did not install properly.

 

RESOLUTION

  1. From your Control Panel → Programs and Features → Uninstall all 2005, 2008, and 2010 Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages.
  2. Download and install the following Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable packages one by one:
